report
v сообщать Глагол to report относится к большой группе глаголов, вводящих или передающих косвенную речь. В разговорной речи наиболее часто употребляются нейтральные глаголы to say that…, to tell smb that…, которые не несут указания на характер и форму передаваемого сообщения. Остальные глаголы косвенной речи, как правило, имеют дополнительные смысловые элементы:
1) глаголы, указывающие на форму сообщения — to call, to cry, to mumble, to murmur, to mutter, to scream, to shout, to storm, to thunder, to wail;
2) глаголы, указывающие на реакцию говорящего — to accept, to admit, to agree, to announce, to answer, to argue, to assume, to believe, to complain, to claim, to confer, to decide, to deny, to discover, to expect, to explain, to feel, to hint, to hope, to imagine, to imply, to insist, to know, to mention, to notice, to predict, to promise, to realize, to recommend, to remark, to remember, to reply, to report, to reveal, to say, to suggest, to swear, to think, to warn. За всеми этими глаголами, как правило, следует придаточное предложение, вводимое союзом that;
3) глаголы, побуждающие к действию, с указанием лица, которое это действие будет выполнять — to advise smb to do smth, to ask smb to do smth, to beg smb to do smth, to command smb to do smth, to convince smb to do smth, to encourage smb to do smth, to forbid smb to do smth, to invite smb to do smth, to order smb to do smth, to persuade smb to do smth, to tell smb to do smth, to urge smb to do smth, to warn smb to do smth;
4) глаголы косвенной речи, которые часто употребляются в отрицательных предложениях — to believe, to expect, to feel, to imagine, to suppose, to think;
5) глаголы косвенной речи, требующие косвенного дополнения с предлогом toto announce to smb, to complain to smb, to confess to smb, to explain to smb, to hint to smb, to mention to smb, to report to smb, to reveal to smb, to suggest to smb;
6) глаголы косвенной речи, употребляющиеся, как правило, в пассивной форме — to allege, to assume, to believe, to claim, to consider, to discover, to estimate, to feel, to find, to know, to learn, to prove, to report, to rumour, to say, to see, to think, to pretend, to understand.
